Doran Racing Nissans to Start Third and Ninth
After Qualifying Is Rained Out at Road Atlanta

BRASELTON, Ga., Oct. 1 - The Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge qualifying session slated for Thursday afternoon at Road Atlanta was canceled due to heavy rain, and the starting line-up for Friday's season finale will be set by the current point standings. That will put the #14 Doran Racing Nissan 370Z in the third starting position and its sister car, the similar #41, in ninth when the green flag drops Friday at 12:15 p.m. Eastern time for the 2.5-hour race.

The time allotted for qualifying was turned into a third practice session, but neither of the Doran Racing cars participated in order to eliminate any chance of damage due to the slippery conditions on the 2.54-mile, 12-turn road course.

Brad Jaeger of Charlottesville, Va., will drive the opening stint in the #14 and then turn it over to B.J. Zacharias of Cincinnati.

Meanwhile, Nic Hammann of Elkhart Lake, Wis., will have the controls of the #41 first before turning it over to his co-driver, Steven Doherty of Plainfield, Ill. Both Hammann and Doherty are champions of the Nissan GT Academy.

Both Nissans were fast out right out of the transporter. The #14 set its fastest lap of the first practice session on Wednesday on its first lap of 17 run in that session with a 1:32.616 (98.730 miler per hour). It was sixth in the second practice session Thursday morning with a 1:32.118 (99.264 mph) halfway through the session, in which it completed 14 laps.

The #41 was the model of consistency during practice, as it ranked ninth in both sessions. Its fastest time in the first practice session was a 1:33.135 (98.180 mph) on lap four of 18. It knocked 0.519 of a second off that time in the second practice session with a 1:32.616 (98.730 mph) on lap 13 of 16, which was ironically the same time as the #14 ran in the first practice session.

The weather forecast for Friday afternoon indicates a 70 percent to 80 percent chance of rain and a high of 60 degrees Fahrenheit.

Live streaming of the race and live timing and scoring are slated for imsa.com on Friday. The race will also be broadcast on Fox Sports 1 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Eastern time on Sunday, Oct. 18.
